Why Now?
Jeffco Public Schools has worked to reduce costs, consolidate schools as enrollment has declined, and make difficult budget decisions.
Amount Jeffco Public Schools cut in permanent budget reductions for 2026–27 school year to handle rising costs & a structural deficit
Number of schools closed down since 2021 due to declining enrollment & budget deficiencies
But the district continues to face a structural funding gap that makes it increasingly difficult to compete with neighboring districts and maintain aging schools.
The challenge comes down to two fundamental needs: investing in the people who educate our students and maintaining the places where they learn.
That is why voters will consider two complementary measures this November 2026: 5A + 5B
About the Measures

5A would provide ongoing funding to:
Improve teacher and staff compensation
Recruit and retain experienced educators
Help Jeffco compete with neighboring school districts
Expand Career & Technical Education programming for students
Give more students access to hands-on learning and career pathways
Measure 5A invests in the people and programs inside our schools.
5B would establish a dedicated source of ongoing capital funding for maintenance needs to ensure our children have safe and comfortable learning environments, including:
Roof repair and replacement
Heating, cooling and ventilation
Water and critical building systems
Safety and security infrastructure
Technology infrastructure
Preventive and deferred maintenance
Measure 5B invests in the buildings our students and educators rely on every day.
Transparency & Accountability
Both 5A + 5B include strong safeguards to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent as promised. Independent citizen oversight committees will review how funds are used and provide ongoing accountability. The District will also maintain a public website with regular updates on expenditures, projects, and funding decisions, so Jeffco taxpayers can clearly see where the money is going and how it is being used.
